    “not for stretching, but more of releasing tension…” right as you said that the ligaments in my knees protested, and I wasn’t even doing anything close to what you were doing, as I can’t do a split….

    It is for beginners. Extend as far as *you* can reach. Don’t try to reach too far or match her exactly. She has been doing this for years and with the repeated practice she has gained the ability to extend that far. In time, you can too.

    It is for beginners. It’s just she ISN’T a beginner, so she’s going to better at it. You don’t have to stretch as far or as deep as she does.
